July 8 – 9, 2011- Jean Shinoda Bolen exemplified strength, grace and joy through her powerful speaking and storytelling, sharing her inspiration and philosophy on activism and archetype. She stood strong and calm, like a tree, as though rooted to a deep reservoir of knowing. The workshop was moving to many, especially a guided meditation tapping into places where we all may have cut ourselves off, or stretched ourselves thin, enabling us to envision dismembered parts to be re-membered. From a place of wholeness it could be seen: the path to sharing, praying and enabling us to create more without diminishing. Thank you, Jean!
June 17, 2011 – Friday Night at the Movies. Ruth Meyer led an astute and spirited discussion following an encore showing of the movie, For The Next Seven Generations. Thank you, Ruth, for bringing this significant documentary to our attention and your efforts in
presenting it.
Spring 2011 – Study Groups are a valuable resource, continuing to enrich Society members as they plumb the depths of Jung’s psychology. The image below is from Francesca Ferrentelli’s group, Jungian Women: Influence and Counterinfluence. One doesn’t need to be a professional to attend any of the Society’s events, just an interest and a desire to explore.
May 6 – 7, 2011 – Dr. Robert Moore brought his magnetic personality and brilliant concepts to the Friday evening lecture, delving into some of the mechanics on the connection of the ego-Self axis, or in his words, “system-self” connecting to the “archetypal Self”. In the Saturday workshop he expounded on the previous night, sharing multiple graphic representations on “Decoding the Diamond Within”. Amazing material. Thank you, Dr. Moore!
March 4 – 5, 2011 – Elizabeth Fergus-Jean speaking from personal experience Friday evening explained how images talk to those who cross the threshold separating the ordinary and the awe-filled numinous, and how through practice and commitment such experiences can be artistically shaped and shared in an authentic voice. In Saturday’s workshop, attendees were taught to see, really see, both artistic and cultural images via their minds, bodies and souls, and to construct surprising and instructive self-images through collage.
Thank you, Elizabeth!
January 6th, 2011 – Board Members gather for assembling/mailing hundreds of newsletters for the Winter/Spring 2011 season. The more hands, the quicker it gets done! Norma Vogelweid has recently taken on the newsletter responsibilities. Great job, Norma!
November 19th, 2010 – Francesca Ferrentelli eloquently revealed the current state of electronic communication today, as seen through the archetypes of Hermes and Aphrodite. She re-told the story of Hermes in way that was fresh and exciting, as well as providing movie clips to reinforce points on the qualities of these archetypes. Many were engaged to bring questions and offered other great ideas to the discussion. “Texting and Sexting: Hermes Trumps Aphrodite” was obviously a topic of great interest.
Thank you, Dr. Ferrentelli!
July 16 -17, 2010 – Joanne Callahan offered participants the opportunity for self-exploration around life experiences of change and transition in her presentation and workshop, “There is Nothing Permanent but Change.”
May 14th – 15th, 2010 – Jenny Yates returned to present on The Red Book. With her related presence, astute knowledge of the material and great sense of humor, she guided us through many of the images in Jung’s most recently published work. She associated not only what period of time he produced a given piece of artwork, but what was happening in his life at each “snapshot” so that we had an idea of what may have prompted him to produce the images and text he did. Saturday, she drew on our individual perspectives/experiences for us to amplify on a more personal level. The Red Book will indeed take many years to explore and unravel, but now we have somewhere to start after Dr. Yates gave us an incredible foothold into the material. Thank you Dr. Yates!
