Description

Various religious rituals, especially the mass, have survived for millennia because their symbolic language speaks to and evokes unconscious patterns deep within the psyche of participants.  In his essay, “Transformation Symbolism in the Mass”, Jung attempts to make conscious the meaning embedded in such rituals to demonstrate their efficacy in the transformation of human consciousness.

Course Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Apply symbolic thinking to explore their own psychological processes.

  2. Appreciate the level of deep meanings of symbols of the mass.

  3. Increase their own ability to think symbolically.
