*One date was originally April 3 and was changed to April 10.
This eight-session study group serves as an introduction to the Indian spiritual classic The Bhagavad Gita while also providing in-depth exploration of The Gita’s fundamental spiritual teachings.
The course will compare/contrast many of the spiritual teachings found within The Gita with major psychological teachings developed by Carl Jung (e.g., Self vs self, individuation, archetypes, collective unconscious, etc.)
The Bhagavad Gita consists of eighteen chapters. The study’s eight sessions will be broken down as follows:
Session #1 — Discussion of the introduction
Sessions #2 to #7 — Discussion of three chapters of The Gita during each session
Session #8 — Conclusions and takeaways
The group study will be based on, and using, the following version of The Bhagavad Gita…
THE BHAGAVAD GITA, 2nd Edition, introduced and translated by EKNATH EASWARAN from Nilgiri Press
ISBN-10: 1586380192
ISBN-13: 978-1586380199
The book is available from Indie Pubs, Nilgiri Press, and Amazon.
Participants are expected to purchase the above-listed version of The Bhagavad Gita well in advance of the first session (March 6, 2025). Expectations are that participants will have read, at least, the introduction and the first three chapters prior to the first session.
It is encouraged that participants read as many of the eighteen chapters of The Gita as possible prior to the first session. It is strongly encouraged that participants read the three chapters that will be discussed in any session prior to that session. Having read the chapters prior to a session will allow for a richer discussion and deeper understanding of the spiritual teachings presented within those chapters.
