How is the Christian season of Advent, the four weeks preceding Christmas, connected to ancient celebrations of the winter solstice? How does it relate to worship of the Earth Mother? To the work of medieval alchemists? To the archetype of the Divine Child? What emotions receive expression through Advent’s liturgy, art, and music? How can Advent be experienced as “psychic pregnancy”?
Questions such as these are addressed in Advent and Psychic Birth, a beautiful little book by Mariann Burke, a member of the Religious of the Sacred Heart as well as a Zurich-trained Jungian analyst. This study group will be held in seminar style as we immerse ourselves in Mariann’s book.
Participants will need to purchase a copy of Advent and Psychic Birth by Mariann Burke. Amazon Smile benefits this Jung Society.
